Know where your booze comes from

As with everything we want to know our source of the products we consume. The alcohol business should be no exception, but many “distilleries” use this method to produce large amounts of spirits so they can benefit their bottom line.

Some call this fraud, others a way to stay in business. In my opinion these distilleries need to ensure the consumer is aware and that “local” means ethanol that they bought (from a mass producing distillery in the South) and infused with juniper berries and add a $40 price tag.

Final thoughts

If you ever visit a distillery, ask this: Do you make your own alcohol base or do you buy it? Personally I’d stay away from the ones that are in the latter. I want a true passion behind the product, not a simple infusion that I can make at home.
